A Morning At The Apple Orchard
Summer has past...the weather has changed. Cool nights, warm afternoons and time to gather sweaters and vests. It's also the perfect time to visit the Apple orchard. I love walking between the rows of so many different varieties of apples...and filling my bag. The colors in the orchard keep my eyes full of delight...the reds, greens, yellows and sometimes a few shades of purple. Then there are the apple orchard smells, burning wood from the camp stove to keep the apple shack warm, animals in the barn and most importantly the smell of warm cider donuts as they sizzle while deep frying and being bagged...all of my senses are in high gear and my mood lifts and I am thankful for living in New England. So on a Saturday morning, a few weeks ago, I grabbed my gear and off I went to my favorite orchard here in Maine...a gift to myself.
It's also not over when you leave the orchard...I head home with my apple bag and before the day is over, there is the smell of cinnamon and nutmeg, filling my kitchen, as the apple crisp bubbles up in the oven, just waiting for a scoop of vanilla ice cream to join in the fun. A perfect Fall Day in Maine.

Whenever you can, go for a walk, no matter how brief. Something will always catch your senses...it's a beautiful time of year to be outdoors.

I so wish I could have come with you. I have never been, but I love your photos, they scream beauty and autumn together
We did almost the exact same thing here in NY, on Sunday, and the apple crisp was just amazing. One of my very favorite desserts, and the only one of my favorite desserts that does not involve chocolate! :-)
Love these photos!!
Oh I can smell the aroma of fresh apples, both in your bag, and on the tree. Apple crisp is definitely my favorite fall treat, but I do love slow simmering chopped apples in some butter and cinnamon. We haven't headed to the orchard this year, and have picked up a bag or two at the local grocer who carries fresh from the orchard apples. So many orchards here have activities and games for the kids, there's no room to just roam around and enjoy the trees. Glad you treated yourself to this day!
What gorgeous photos Cheryl! And I can just taste the apple crisp now!
The first apple has such a wonderful shine it makes it look like a candied apple, cool. The area is very lovely with the old barn and the changing fall leaves. Again I love the blush on the apple you know they are fresh from the farm. Happy Fall Cheryl.
I love photographing in an apple orchard. Your orchard and photos are superb! Yes, lucky you to have New England.
Thank you girls for stopping by...I'm glad I got out and got these photo's when I did because the wind and rain this weekend was crazy. Needless to say we lost a lot of leaves. Hopefully more will come because we have some trees that haven't turned yet...Wishing you all beautiful and joy filled week...
