Do The Trees Speak

Do the trees speak back to the wind

when the wind offers some invitational comment?

As some of us do, do they also talk to the sun?

I believe so, and if such belief need rest on the evidence, let me just say, Sometimes it's

an earful.

But there's more.

If you can hear the trees in their easy hours

of course you can also hear them later,

crying out at the sawmill...

Mary Oliver.

Wow...these colors are just magnificent! They are the kind we see in magazines and publications from the New England states! Perfect! We had a stunning rainbow earlier this evening - a double one. The colors were stunning and so bright. Thank you for sharing this beautiful picture and the poem.

Thank you Karin..it was a glorious fall in New England. We are almost always surrounded by these beautiful colors. Pov.. Well every once in awhile we have to spend some time on the ground.

Good Morning Beverly. Yes this is fall in New England. Sometimes, with the right light, it does not even need an adjustment. This photo and really, most of my outside photos are just mimimully tuned up. I like nature to represent itself, except if I'm looking for an artsy pov. This one stands on its own merit. Thanks so much for your visit.

Cheryl, The poetry of Mary Oliver resounds deeply within my soul - and your photograph is the perfect accompaniment. I really love how you present a beautiful photo and a simple passage or quote or thought - like a small bite of my favorite dessert - just enough to satisfy.

Such beautiful light and colors! What a great poem, I will never look at another piece of wood furniture the same again. :)
